It’s Graduation Time for LAVCA Seniors!
Graduation is just around the corner, and here at Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy (LAVCA), our seniors are busy wrapping up their final assignments, finalizing their future plans, and getting ready to celebrate a major milestone! With 108 students in our graduating class, it’s an exciting time—and we’ve got some helpful tips to make sure you’re ready for the big day and beyond.
Whether you’re heading to college, diving into a career, or taking a gap year, here are four things every LAVCA senior should keep in mind:
1. Stay on Track
Before you can toss that cap in the air, make sure all your required courses are completed. At LAVCA, you can work at your own pace—but staying organized is key, especially during your final semester. Regularly check your academic progress, reach out to your teachers, and confirm with your counselor that you’re meeting all graduation requirements.
Take it from Cullen, one of our early graduates this year. Cullen is a motivated, task-oriented student who knew he wanted to finish school ahead of schedule. He enrolled in dual-enrollment courses, stayed on top of his ACT testing, and checked off every requirement—all so he could pursue a calling that’s close to his heart: missionary work. His determination and careful planning are a great example of what it means to stay focused and follow through.
2. Make a Graduation Checklist
Your senior year is full of important milestones—don’t let anything slip through the cracks. Make a checklist that includes everything from finishing your coursework and studying for finals to participating in school events and finalizing your college or career plans. If you’re college-bound, be sure to include things like application deadlines, essay submissions, and financial aid steps.
Kimora, another standout senior, knows firsthand how valuable it is to stay on top of things. As a young mother, she faced personal and academic challenges, but after a meeting with her counselor, she made a commitment to stay on track. Her grades improved dramatically, and she met every graduation requirement. Now, she’s preparing to receive her diploma and step confidently into the next chapter of her life—for both her and her child.
3. Explore College and Career Options
Whether you’re heading to college or straight into the workforce, it pays to be proactive. LAVCA offers tools and resources to help you plan for life after graduation, including virtual career fairs, guidance counseling, and opportunities to explore your interests. Use your online platform to research options, reach out to mentors, and start thinking about your goals for the future.
4. Get Ready for the Ceremony!
Graduation at LAVCA is a special celebration. Even though we’re a virtual school, we come together as a community to recognize your achievements and celebrate your journey. Make sure you know what to expect on the big day and take time to reflect on everything you’ve accomplished—you’ve earned it!
Graduation is more than a ceremony—it’s the start of something new. At LAVCA, we’re proud to support our students as they take this exciting step. With hard work, perseverance, and the right support system, your goals are within reach.
