The Flex Program
At LAVCA, Flex provides built-in flexibility through asynchronous learning every Tuesday and Thursday, and students can earn extra Flex days throughout the year. Students complete assigned coursework independently unless they are scheduled for a required teacher-led small group, intervention, IEP/service session, or other required school activity.
What is the Flex program?
Families in Flex benefit from a consistent schedule where students work asynchronously on Tuesdays and Thursdays while attending required live instruction on other scheduled days. Students may be required to participate in small groups or interventions on asynchronous days. Additionally, students can earn extra Flex days.

Flex & Graduation
Flex students earn the same LAVCA diploma as other students; transcripts do not indicate participation in Flex.
Graduation requirements are identical for all students, as set by LAVCA and aligned with Louisiana state standards.

How is Flex different from the standard program?

Is the curriculum the same as standard LAVCA?
Yes! Flex students use the same online platform, curriculum, and grade-level courses as standard LAVCA students. They also have access to social emotional learning and may participate in all clubs and social opportunities offered at LAVCA and K12.
Do siblings need to enroll in the same program?
No. Families often have one child in Flex and another in the standard program, depending on individual learning needs.
What if Flex isn’t the right fit?
Students can transition back to a traditional, structured class schedule if Flex isn’t working for them. The change can be requested by the family or initiated by the school. Students who don’t meet the requirements for staying in Flex may also be transitioned back to standard learning.
