Letter from the Executive Director
Dear LAVCA Families,
Welcome to a new school year at Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy!
Whether you are joining our school family for the first time or returning for another year, I am honored to welcome you to LAVCA. This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate our 15th year of serving students across Louisiana. For fifteen years, LAVCA has provided families with a high-quality virtual education built on strong relationships, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to student success. I am excited to begin this milestone year alongside each of you.
At LAVCA, we know that education is most successful when schools and families work together. As a virtual school, that partnership is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating engaging learning experiences, maintaining high academic expectations, and ensuring every student feels known, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential.
This handbook has been developed to serve as a valuable resource throughout the school year. Inside, you will find important information about our academic expectations, attendance requirements, school policies, technology, student services, communication procedures, and the many supports available to help your child succeed. I encourage every family to review it carefully and refer back to it whenever questions arise.
As we begin this school year, you will notice several updates designed to strengthen the learning experience for our students. Please be sure to participate in your child’s orientation and review all communications from your teachers and school staff. These resources contain important information about schedules, instructional expectations, and the tools your family will use throughout the year.
Our mission extends beyond helping students earn grades—we are preparing them to become confident learners, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens. Every student who logs into LAVCA is trusting us with something incredibly important: their opportunity to learn. We take that responsibility seriously, and our dedicated teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff are committed to making every learning experience meaningful, rigorous, and engaging.
Thank you for choosing Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy. It is a privilege to partner with your family, and I look forward to celebrating your child’s growth and accomplishments throughout this exciting school year.
Here’s to a wonderful year together!
Warm regards,
Natalie Verret-Watson
